Egyptian deeptech company Simplex CNC has announced plans to build a $13m factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to manufacture computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The move comes after the company secured $13m in funding and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Saudi National Center for Industrial Development (NCID).

The factory, Simplex’s first in Saudi, will be built on a 20,000 square metre site in the Saudi capital and is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026, according to the company. The MoU was signed at a ceremony attended by Eng. Khalil bin Salama, Saudi Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industry Affairs, and Eng. Ahmed Shaaban, Simplex’s chairman.

CNC machines, which use pre-programmed software to automate the movement of machine tools, are crucial for modern manufacturing processes, used to cut, shape, and finish materials. The Riyadh factory aims to address the growing demand for these machines within Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

“We appreciate the support provided by the Saudi National Industrial Development Center,” said Mr Shaaban. “This factory represents an important step in our expansion into regional and global markets.”

Mohammed Mansour, Simplex’s co-founder and head of the commercial sector, highlighted the strategic importance of the Saudi market, describing it as “promising” and a “strategic centre for exporting the company’s products.”

The project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan, which aims to diversify the kingdom’s economy and localize advanced industries. The initiative also reflects Saudi Arabia’s push to develop its manufacturing sector and reduce reliance on oil revenues.

Founded in 2013, Simplex provides industrial solutions to a range of manufacturers across various sectors in the region. The company has been working to develop and refine its CNC machine technology, positioning itself to capitalize on the increasing demand for automated manufacturing solutions. The new factory represents a significant expansion of its operations and a commitment to the Saudi market. The $13m investment will be used to finance the construction and equipping of the facility, as well as supporting the company’s broader growth strategy.
