    After Training Thousands, Algerian Edtech Code213 Sets Sights on Africa — ‘We’re Building for Global Markets’

    Algerian edtech startup Code213 has launched its third coding school in Algeria, marking a significant milestone in its mission to equip young professionals with digital skills. As the demand for tech talent in Africa continues to grow, Code213 is now eyeing expansion into North and Sub-Saharan African markets, leveraging its AI-driven education model to train thousands of aspiring professionals.

    Founded in 2023, Code213 provides training in key areas such as software development, cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing. The company’s blended learning approach integrates online coursework with in-person mentorship, offering industry-recognized certifications from global tech leaders like CompTIA, Microsoft, and Google.

    A distinguishing feature of Code213’s model is its AI tutor, Noor AI, which delivers personalized support, real-time feedback, and career mentorship. This innovation has been designed to enhance engagement and improve employability outcomes for students, many of whom come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.

    With over 1,500 students trained to date, Code213’s approach caters to multiple segments, including university graduates, career switchers, corporate employers, and government institutions. Its expansion strategy aligns with the continent’s growing digital economy, where over 230 million digital jobs are expected to emerge by 2030.

    “Our mission is to create a pipeline of highly skilled digital professionals who can compete in the global job market. Expanding into new regions allows us to reach more young talents, empowering them with the skills they need to succeed,” said Amina Bergui, Marketing Manager at Code213.

    By working with businesses and policymakers, Code213 aims to integrate digital training into national workforce initiatives, addressing both skill shortages and youth unemployment.

    Code213’s ambitions are backed by its CEO, Kamel Haddar, a serial entrepreneur with a track record in digital innovation. Haddar is also the founder of temtem ONE, a digital gift card and rewards platform operating across Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, and Côte d’Ivoire. Through temtem ONE, the diaspora can purchase goods and services for relatives in their home countries, while businesses use the platform for employee rewards and engagement.

    Beyond his entrepreneurial ventures, Haddar co-founded the Algerian Talents & Leaders Association (ATLAS) in 2010, which provides Algerian students with access to top business schools and professional networks. He also established CasbahTech, a startup studio fostering digital innovation in Algeria. Through this initiative, he has invested in multiple tech-driven enterprises, including Factory Digitale, a platform that connects African talent with European technical teams, iMadrassa.com, an e-learning platform, and Code213. 

    As Code213 prepares to scale its operations across Africa, the company is seeking partnerships with governments, businesses, and investors to build a sustainable digital workforce. With technology playing an increasingly critical role in Africa’s economic transformation, initiatives like Code213 could help position the continent’s young workforce for global opportunities.

    The startup’s expansion comes amid a broader trend of edtech growth in Africa, as more investors and institutions recognize the need for scalable, skills-based education. Whether Code213 can replicate its success beyond Algeria remains to be seen, but its efforts reflect a growing urgency to close the digital skills gap and create new pathways for African talent in the global tech industry.
