Insight Terra, a leader in environmental risk management, has raised $5.7 million in a Series A extension funding round to expand its AI-driven platform that addresses greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions monitoring and geotechnical risk management. The funding round was led by E3 Capital, with participation from Fireball Capital, Atlantic Bridge, Globalive, and JLR Star.

This investment reflects a growing commitment to leveraging technology to tackle climate change-related challenges. The funds will be directed toward scaling the company’s commercial and technical teams, enabling broader adoption of its platform across industries, and enhancing capabilities to meet tightening environmental regulations and investor demands.

Founded in 2021, Insight Terra’s edge-to-cloud data management platform provides real-time analytics and actionable insights into environmental risks, empowering businesses to monitor and mitigate their impact effectively. The platform serves industries where compliance with international standards and safety protocols is critical, offering tools to track and reduce fugitive GHG emissions and manage geotechnical risks.

“The investment will enable us to accelerate the development and expansion of our platform’s capabilities to tackle complex monitoring, reporting, and verification challenges faced by industries globally,” said Alastair Bovim, Co-Founder and CEO of Insight Terra.

In South Africa, where climate change exacerbates risks to critical infrastructure, Insight Terra’s platform has the potential to mitigate environmental and human impacts, including preventing disasters such as the Brumadinho dam collapse in Brazil. By converting real-time data into actionable insights, the platform ensures operational safety and regulatory compliance.

Andrew Darge, E3 Capital’s lead on the transaction, emphasized the significance of Insight Terra’s technology. “The cutting-edge capability of the Insight Platform positions it as a leader in managing climate-related risks across Africa’s critical industries. We believe this investment aligns with E3’s mission to drive low-carbon solutions across emerging markets.”

Paula Mokwena, CEO of Fireball Capital, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the platform’s potential to advance environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. “Fireball is committed to backing innovative entrepreneurs who address sustainability challenges. Insight Terra exemplifies this mission by transforming environmental risk management.”

Kevin Dillon, Managing Partner at Atlantic Bridge, noted the company’s progress since its initial Series A round. “We are delighted to continue supporting Insight Terra in its next growth phase, recognizing the team’s potential for significant expansion.”

The funding will enable Insight Terra to strengthen its presence in Africa and expand into new markets, addressing the growing demand for data-driven solutions to combat climate change. By equipping industries with advanced monitoring tools, the company aims to contribute meaningfully to global sustainability efforts.

As regulatory frameworks tighten and the climate crisis intensifies, Insight Terra’s platform offers a vital tool for industries striving to meet international standards while reducing their environmental footprint. This funding round underscores the importance of climate-tech innovation in fostering resilience and sustainability across sectors.
