Colis.ma, a Moroccan startup specializing in cross-border logistics, has successfully completed a $300,000 pre-seed funding round, led by Witamax, Morocco’s first entirely privately-held venture capital fund. The injection of capital is set to propel Colis.ma’s expansion across Morocco’s five largest regions, six major European countries, and support its ambitions for further growth across the African continent.

Founded in 2022 by Issam Darui, Colis.ma has rapidly scaled, delivering over 50,000 parcels to more than 55 destinations across six European countries in under two years. The company’s operational volume has increased fivefold over the last 12 months, while revenues have quadrupled. Darui attributes this exponential growth to a clear focus on technology-driven solutions, enhancing the speed and efficiency of cross-border deliveries between Morocco, Europe, and Africa.

“We are deeply grateful to Witamax for their support at this crucial stage of our development,” said Darui. “This funding will allow us to extend our geographic reach while improving the quality of our services. Our goal is to become a leading logistics provider in Africa and Europe, bringing innovative technology solutions to a sector undergoing significant transformation.”

    Targeting Key Niches

Colis.ma’s strategy is to tap into Morocco’s strong family ties with Europe, as well as to support professionals in sectors like artisanal goods, cosmetics, and traditional products. By focusing on these niches, Colis.ma aims to become a dominant player in cross-border logistics between Europe and Africa.

The startup’s business model involves partnerships with both structured and unstructured carriers, enabling them to handle a wide range of delivery services. As it builds out its network, Colis.ma is working on bolstering its logistics infrastructure and tech platform to manage the complexities of cross-border trade efficiently.

For Witamax, the investment in Colis.ma represents a vote of confidence in the startup’s potential to reshape logistics in the region. “Colis.ma is well on its way to becoming a leading player in this segment,” said Hiba Mrani Alaoui, Partner at Witamax. The fund’s support, which is part of its strategy to back high-potential Moroccan startups, will enable Colis.ma to broaden its reach while refining its services for both individual and corporate clients.

This is not the first time Colis.ma has attracted investor attention. In 2023, the startup raised $50,000 from The Baobab Network, after being selected for its acceleration program. That same year, Colis.ma joined Plug and Play Morocco, a leading global accelerator. Most recently, in February 2024, Colis.ma secured a $45,000 grant after successfully completing Orange Corners, a business development program supporting African entrepreneurs.

The startup’s rapid progress has piqued the interest of several African and international venture capital funds, who have already expressed interest in participating in Colis.ma’s next funding round, slated for early 2026. As the company gears up for further investment, it is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the growing logistics market in the region.

Colis.ma’s rise coincides with the growing demand for logistics services in Morocco, spurred by increasing cross-border trade and e-commerce activity. This growth is not without competition. State-owned postal service Barid Al-Maghrib is embarking on an ambitious project to industrialize its parcel delivery services, with the aim of doubling its processing capacity by 2030 through automation and modernization of its infrastructure. The project is scheduled for completion in January 2026, highlighting the heightened competition in the Moroccan logistics sector.

Despite the competitive environment, Colis.ma’s focus on underserved niches and its commitment to technological innovation position it well for long-term success. As the company expands its footprint across Africa and Europe, it will be crucial to maintain its momentum while navigating the complexities of cross-border logistics in these regions.

As Darui puts it, “The future of logistics is about agility, speed, and connecting continents. Colis.ma is ready to play a pivotal role in shaping that future.”

With its eyes set on becoming a key player in African and European logistics, Colis.ma’s journey is just beginning.
