Ticketmaster, a global leader in ticket sales, announced its acquisition of Quicket, a prominent ticketing platform in Africa. This move aims to bolster the rapidly growing live events industry across the continent by combining Ticketmaster’s global expertise with Quicket’s regional knowledge.

Since its 2022 entry into the South African market, Ticketmaster has established partnerships with major festivals, sports events, music venues, theaters, and other entertainment providers. Quicket, founded in 2011, has developed a self-service platform and event organizer tools that have become popular in South Africa and other African countries.

The acquisition is expected to benefit event organizers of all sizes, from small clubs to large stadiums, by providing a wider range of ticketing solutions. Quicket’s expansion into Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, and Botswana, coupled with Ticketmaster’s global reach, will allow more African artists, promoters, and venues to connect with a broader audience.

“Partnering with Quicket will supercharge our mission to elevate Africa’s dynamic live events to the global spotlight they truly deserve,” said Mark Yovich, President of Ticketmaster. “Together, we are igniting a new era of unparalleled growth for African entertainment.”

James Tagg, Managing Director of Quicket, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Partnering with Ticketmaster marks a landmark moment in connecting African artists to a global audience and enhancing the experience for local fans and promoters alike.”

The collaboration is also expected to accelerate the adoption of digital ticketing technologies across the continent, including secure encrypted mobile tickets, further enhancing the overall experience for event attendees.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Quicket will continue to operate as a standalone business under Ticketmaster’s ownership, with James Tagg remaining as Managing Director.
